Abstract
In the structure of the title compound (24DMPMSA), C9H13NO2S, the conformation of the N—H bond is syn to the ortho-methyl substituent, similar to the syn conformation observed for N-(2-methylphenyl)methanesulfonamide (2MPMSA). The geometric parameters in 24DMPMSA are similar to those in N-phenylmethanesulfonamide, 2MPMSA and N-(2,3-dimethylphenyl)methanesulfonamide, except for some differences in the torsion angles. The amide H atom is readily available to a receptor molecule during its biological activity, as it lies on one side of the plane of the benzene ring, while the methanesulfonyl group is on the opposite side, similar to those in N-arylmethanesulfonamides. The molecules in 24DMPMSA are packed into chains through N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
