Abstract

Sufi healing practices have drawn scant anthropological attention in recent years. While Sufis engage in mystical practices, their role as healers and diviners forms a central aspect of their role. This paper examines Sufi divination techniques, and how they imbue a sense of existential mastery. I also explore the relationship between mystical practice and existential mastery among Sufis in North India.
