Abstract

The aim of our study is to compare the outcomes between laparoscopic and laparotomy techniques, for that we divided our patient's population into two groups, group A corresponded to patients who underwent laparoscopic myomectomy and group B was the control group, who underwent abdominal myomectomy. A prospective longitudinal study of sequential deliberate intervention in parallel was made. We measured surgical time, amount of intraoperative bleeding, postoperative complications, hospital stay, and cost. San Angel Inn Chapultepec Hospital, Mexico City, from March 2011 to March 2011. Our populaation are 51 patients, 26 patients underwent laparoscopic myomectomy, and 25 abdominal myomectomy, both groups were comparable in age, size and location of fibroids, and pre operative conditions. Laparoscopic myomectomy and abdominal myomectomy. Statistical analysis of the results was made with T test for independent samples with p = <0.05 in most of the variables to laparoscopic myomectomy. Laparoscopic myomectomy is safe technique, with shorter hospital stay and less intraoperative bleeding, and fewer postoperative complications, which determined faster recovery, less posoperative pain. But it is more expensive than abdominal myomectomy.
