Abstract

A 62-year-old woman with unresectable gall bladder carcinoma presented with a dislodged right percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) catheter placed 5 weeks earlier at another hospital. Ultrasound examination of the abdomen revealed a gall bladder fossa mass with mild intrahepatic biliary dilatation. Upon removal of the bile-soaked dressing, an unusual appearance of the PTBD site tissue was noted (Fig a). Upon closer examination, multiple larvae were found crawling within the PTBD site (Fig b).
