Abstract A description is provided for Mycovellosiella vaginae . Information is included on the disease caused by the organism, its transmission, geographical distribution, and hosts. HOSTS: Saccharum officinale . DISEASE: Associated with reddish-brown leaf sheath lesions. GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION: Africa (Ghana, Malawi, South Africa, Togo, Uganda), Asia (Japan, Malaya, Taiwan), West Indies (Cuba), South America (Venezuela). TRANSMISSION: Presumably by air-borne conidia.
