Abstract

Mycotic aneurysms (MAs) are extremely rare. We report a case of MA of the superficial palmar arch in the presence of acute bacterial endocarditis of native aortic valve. The diagnosis was made by arteriography. Excision of MA with microvascular reconstruction was performed to prevent rupture of the aneurysm and possible digital ischemia. MAs of the hand can be treated successfully with surgery, in this case by excision and microvascular reconstruction. Arteriography should be routinely used to plan the surgical strategy.
