Abstract
Twelve species in the genus Mycoplasma, two in the genus Acholeplasma, and one in the genus Ureaplasma have been isolated from humans, mostly from the oropharynx. Eight Mycoplasma species (M. fermentans, M. genitalium, M. hominis, M. penetrans, M. pneumoniae, M. primatum, M. salivarium, M. spermatophilum) and U. urealyticum have been isolated from the urogenital tract, M. hominis and Ureaplasmas most frequently. Their role in disease is mentioned briefly.
