Abstract

A case of septic abortion is presented in which Mycoplasma hominis was isolated from the blood and cervical discharge of the mother and from the liver of the fetus. The mother demonstrated a sixteenfold rise in antibody titer to the homologous organism, but not to other Mycoplasma species. Further study is needed to determine the frequency and significance of M. hominis infection in abortion.
