Abstract
Welcome back! It is great to see everyone in person at our annual ASMBS (American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery) meeting. It is truly an honor to stand here before you today as president. This is the highest achievement of my professional career. Looking at photos of this conference over the years, I certainly never dreamed I would be president of the ASMBS. After all, I do not have the grit of a Robin Blackstone, I do not have the energy of a Raul Rosenthal, and I certainly don’t have the hair of a Matt Hutter. Matt, it is truly presidential. But, early in my career, I used to stare in awe and admiration at photos of leaders of this group gathered at this conference, and I now know the sacrifice and dedication it took for them to achieve such a title.
