Abstract

This is a tribute to Ellen Pence's exemplary advocacy on behalf of battered women. It traces Ellen's vital contributions to the field of antidomestic violence advocacy through two organizations, DAIP and Praxis. The history of Ellen's relentless efforts to transform legal and social institutions that led her to create the coordinated community response (CCR) and the institutional audit tool to assess safety and accountability are also elaborated. The author characterizes Ellen Pence's work as meta-advocacy.
