Abstract

I graduated in 1981, obtaining a bachelor's degree in electrical and mechanical engineering, and since then I have had the opportunity to work on many facets of electrical systems especially in the power area. It was 1979 when the opportunity for my first job arose. In my senior year of studies at the University of Panama, one of the professors approached me and asked if I was interested in joining the staff of the major power utility company in the country called the Institute of Hydraulic Resources and Electrification (IRHE). I was a student with a good academic performance in the class, which I think created the opportunity. I said yes immediately.
