My Animal, My Support, and My New Home in a Retirement Village: Disability Discrimination, Assistance Animals and Old Age

Abstract

The inequalities confronting older Australians have attracted considerable public attention, and significant attention in this journal (Elder Law Review). One issue that has not been addressed is how a decision by an older person not to be identified as a person with a disability has important implications for the options they then have to begin or continue to use animals to manage their medical conditions.
