Abstract

There are presented memories of prof. E.Ch. Novikova during her tenure as the Deputy Minister of Health of the USSR on the health of children and women in 1972-1984. The author, as a direct participant in the events, describes the history of the establishment of the Institute of the Ministry’s main specialists in the leading areas of pediatrics, peculiarities of the organization of baby nutrition and the development of nutritional formulas for infants, the formation of a resuscitation service for newborns. A panorama of the activity of the Ministry of Health of the USSR on improving specialized assistance to children and mothers in various Republics of the USSR, the exchange of experience with foreign colleagues, and working with the population is presented.
