Abstract

Metals and alloys are crucial to our modern way of life and are used in almost every aspect of human endeavour. However, they corrode easily, and that might cause problems. Thus, corrosion-prevention technologies are more vital. New 2D materials and layered materials are currently being considered by researchers as potential components of a corrosion protection approach. Despite the widespread interest in MXene materials for use in catalysis, batteries, purification, and electromagnetic interference shielding, their anticorrosion performance has received relatively little investigation. This is largely due to the fact that MXene nanosheets are susceptible to oxidation in air. Therefore, in this review the usage of MXene to reduce corrosion is briefly discussed.
