Abstract

The paper proposes a centralized protection scheme with a localized backup for a MVDC microgrid. The centralized scheme is implemented using the percentage differential current approach backed up with a localized scheme employing running autoregressive smoothing average. An adaptive mathematical analysis of the parameters employed is performed for a justified assent. The proposed scheme is ratified to be accurate and immune to the system configuration, voltage fluctuations, and high-resistance faults with its security, dependability, and selectivity validated for different transients and fault contingencies employing minimum solid state circuit breakers in the microgrid.
