Abstract
The cross section for mutual neutralisation in collisions of protons with negative hydrogen ions has been calculated for impact energies of 8.0 and 50.0 keV. The multi-state impact parameter method with rectilinear trajectories and an expansion in travelling atomic orbitals on both centres is employed. The sensitivity of the results to the wavefunction for H- is investigated.
