Abstract
A review is given of measurement techniques for space plasmas based on the mutual impedance of a pair of dipole antennas, which preferably should be of the double-sphere variety. Besides electron density and temperature, capability of measuring the following plasma properties in space has been demonstrated to different degrees: thermal electron drift velocity parallel and perpendicular to the magnetic field; lower hybrid resonance frequency; plasma resistivity at ELF. More research, both theoretical and experimental, is needed in order to fully realize the potential of these techniques.
