Abstract
In this work, the design of a compact Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Cylindrical Dielectric Resonator Antenna (CDRA) with an efficient technique for mutual coupling reduction is investigated and validated experimentally. Two cylindrical dielectric resonators (CDR) are excited by the microstrip line through the rectangular slot underneath the CDRAs. Isolation between the CDRAs is improved by a separator wall loaded with Split Ring Resonator (SRR) placed in between the elements. A maximum improvement of isolation up to 40 dB is achieved over the frequency band 7.40–7.80 GHz centered at 7.56 GHz. Broadside radiation patterns at both the principal planes justify the use of the proposed MIMO antenna for commercial applications.
