Abstract

Mutual coupling can significantly affect the far-field pattern of an array antenna. The finite difference time domain (FDTD) method may be used to determine the far-field pattern with mutual coupling effects included. This is done for three patch arrays consisting of two types of elements, which are excited along orthogonal edges. Patterns are determined for the cases of one and three driven elements. Patterns for the three-driven element case are compared with and without mutual coupling effects. >
