Abstract

Abstract The extraction of zinc, cadmium and mercury(II) with a 0. 1 M solution of tribenzylamine in chloroform was studied at varying concentrations of hydrobromic and hydroiodic acid solutions. The extractions of halo complexes of these elements are in accordance with the stability of their tetrahalo complexes in aqueous solution. Using the data mutual binary separations of zinc, cadmium and mercury with high separation coefficients are proposed.
