Abstract

Bud-wood of twelve scented cultivars of garden roses was irradiated with 4 kR of gamma rays before budding the eyes on Edward root-stock. Percentages of bud-take and servival, height of plants and number of flowers per plant decreased and percentage of abnormal flowers increased after irradiation. Somatic mutations were induced in flower color in Bettina, Lady Florence Stronge, McGredy's Sunset and President Poincare.
