Abstract

The zebrafish is an ideal model organism for cardiovascular (CV) research due to its embryonic transparency, rapid development and capability of surviving in the absence of a functional CV system in the first week of development. As a part of the research initiative under International Zebrafish Protein Trap Consortium, we aim to generate 1000 mutant zebrafish lines over the next five years in Toronto using Gene Trapping, a technique that generates random insertional mutations across the genome.
