Abstract

S2-sarcoma of white mice, treated in vivo with caffeine (0,25 g/kg i.p.) or caffeine (0,25 g/kg i.p.) and oxygen (0,5 ml i.p.) were evaluated for structural chromosome anomalies. Controls received aqua dest. (0,5 ml i.p.) or oxygen (0,5 ml i.p.). Caffeine treatment gave the same results as the control i.e. less than 1% cells with aberrations. Combination of caffeine and oxygen treatment yielded significant increase of chromatid breaks i.e. 4,4%, while reunion figures were as seldom as in the control group. Cells with gaps only were not scored.
