Abstract

The aim of this study is to put forward music education policies in education policy followed by the establishment of the Republic in Turkey according to the music educators’ opinions. This study was conducted as a descriptive research model by using the qualitative research approach and semi-structured interview questions were used for data collection. As a result of the research, music educators pointed out that music lesson hours in primary and secondary education should be increased and music lessons in high schools should be compulsory. They also explained the importance of the lessons taught by experts in the field of music, the necessity of the regulation of the government budget for international and contemporary music education, and that the authorities should have a holistic and sustainable approach for education in general and for private music education.
