Abstract
Polish-Ukrainian relationships to a large extent are determined by a stereotype. This mechanism is typical for nations that border each other and that are over common historical experiences. However, not history itself, but the way of presenting it is the carrier of generally accepted image of the Other. As imagology argues, the literature of the 19th century and of the beginning of the 20th century, which shaped the imagination of the Polish people, is responsible for this state of things. In the era of audiovisuality this role is taken by texts of media culture, particularly important for young generation. Among them an extremely important narration is music. Analysing contemporary identity narration expressed in music, one can deliberate on the possibility of constructing new platforms for agreement. This quality is present in Polish-Ukrainian project, called Mickiewicz – Stasiuk – Haydamaky. Making reference to the texts of the Polish poet, Ukrainian musicians evoke values that are common to both cultures, based on romantic experience of the fight for freedom, the sense of pride and honour.
