This thirty-six-chapter book is an illustrative text that describes specific techniques for the resection and reconstruction of primary bone and soft-tissue sarcomas. The author-editors are leading surgeons in the field of limb-salvage surgery: Dr. Malawer is an experienced orthopaedic oncologist and has developed many of the techniques described in this book, and Dr. Sugarbaker is a surgical oncologist who has contributed to the chapters that describe amputation, resection of soft-tissue sarcoma, and abdominoinguinal approaches for the resection of pelvic tumors. Drs. Malawer and Sugarbaker (either alone or with coauthors) contributed thirty-one of the thirty-six chapters in this book. Although the text is fairly comprehensive, readers should keep in mind that the vast majority of the information was contributed by the editors themselves or by those they have trained and clearly reflects their opinions and preferred techniques.
