Abstract

Some interventions for preventing fall are shown to be beneficial and some of them are cost-effectiveness. Several randomized-controlled trials to prevent fractures, such as drug-regimens and external hip protector use, have been vigorously examined. However, few studies have compared several different drug-regimens. Further studies are required to compare different drugs or drug-regimens and to conduct economic analysis of fracture prevention using drugs. In terms of hip protector use, several studies show that hip protector use among institutionalized older individuals is beneficial and cost effective, although there is limited evidence to support the use of hip protectors among community-dwelling older people.
