Abstract

The large amplitude vibrations arising in muonic species are examined through a non-adiabatic study of the muonium substituted hydrogen molecular ion Mu + 2. Steric effects in organic muonic radicals are described and the muon spin rotation (μSR) spectra for radicals formed in butene-2-4-ol illustrated in comparison with deuterated ethenes. The proposal for a contribution of electronic origin to the isotope effect is questioned.
