Abstract

Muon capture rates from the doublet and quartet states are carefully studied as the functions of the πNΔ coupling constants, co and d 1 , and the induced pseudoscalar form factor g p . Evaluation of the exchange current effects is still sensitive to the magnitudes of c 0 and d 1 , although there are almost no ambiguities due to nuclear structure. We found that the ratio of the capture rates from these two hyperfine states is insensitive to c 0 and d 1 , but fairly sensitive to g p . This is very useful to test PCAC in detail
