Abstract

The direct experimental study of the basic elementary process μ − + p → n + v is not possible, and so one has to extract the information on this process from the measurement of muon capture rate by complex nuclei or from a study of the muon capture in liquid hydrogen. The complications that arise out of complexities of nuclear and molecular physics are therefore unavoidable.
