Abstract
We study synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images with the multiwavelets transform, present a new denoising method of multiwavelets to reduce the coherent speckle noise. A number of experiments prove that this new method not only suppresses the speckle noise effectively, but also preserves as many of the target characteristics of the original images as is possible. It shows that this denoising method offers a very attractive alternative to suppressing the coherent speckle noise of the SAR images.
