Abstract

Abstract The close monitoring of the operational performance of process plants and their associated instrumentation and control is of increasing strategic importance. Failures can lead to increased costs, reduced product quality, consistency and production, plant shutdowns and increased environmental impact. Multivariate Statistical Process Control methodologies can provide a diagnostic tool for the comprehensive on-line monitoring and detection of process malfunctions with applications to both continuous and batch manufacturing. This paper reviews the development of a Multivariate Statistical Process Performance Monitoring system for a complex industrial reactor process.
