Abstract
Amoco's Facies Log System (FLS), as the name implies, originally was developed to identify statistically significant subpopulations within large electric log datasets. Since its inception, the unique statistical prowess of FLS has found significant application in the fields of geochemistry, geophysics, basin reconnaissance, and many other disciplines. Presently, one of the most popular applications of FLS technology is in the field of hydrocarbon migration pathway mapping using geochemical data as input.
