Abstract

Ecology studies the relationships between living beings, environment, distribution, and abundance, and how these properties are affected by the interaction between organisms and the environment in which they live (habitat), as well as the influence each living being has on the environment. Statistical methods are fundamental for the treatment of data and dissemination of information. The research focuses on exposing the multivariate techniques applied to analyze the relationships between tree species and the physical-chemical characteristics of the soil. The methodology consisted of reviewing articles related to keywords such as: "dry forest," "multivariate statistics," and "ecology." Among the relevant results, the canonical correspondence analysis, factor analysis, and dendrograms stand out.
