Abstract

Congenital rubella syndrome with congenital valvular pulmonary stenosis in association with Multivalvular rheumatic heart disease is unusual. Herein we describe a case of 30-year-old female with mental retardation, sensory-neural hearing loss and visual impairment, diagnosed as valvular pulmonary stenosis at the age of 6 years and subsequently developed NYHA class II/IV symptoms since last 2 years, progressed to III/IV since 2 months. Evaluation revealed rheumatic severe mitral stenosis, mild aortic stenosis, dome shaped thickened pulmonary valve with severe pulmonary stenosis and stigma of congenital rubella syndrome along with right ventricular failure. Role of preventive aspects in general & optimal management and serial noninvasive follow up in particular is emphasized.
