Abstract

The asymptotics of the survival probability is found for the critical multitype Galton--Watson branching processes evolving in a random environment generated by a Markov chain with a countable number of states. The result obtained generalizes and strengthens a number of known results established earlier for the critical branching processes (with one or several types of particles) evolving in a random environment generated by a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables.
