Abstract

Active noise control is a popular research field in academia as well as for commercial purposes. Despite this little progress was made to search new and effective controller tuning methods. In this paper, we present an alternative tuning algorithm for multi-tone disturbance signals to the widely used filtered reference signal least mean square approach. Advantages of the newly developed method allow faster convergence and more precise frequency estimation. Its control behavior was examined in simulations. The identified dynamics of a laboratory duct system were used for the control path. The disturbance signal consisted of three non-harmonic tones, with frequencies which cannot be represented using integer numbers. The frequencies were identified using a frequency estimation scheme. An output attenuation of 18 dB was achieved.
