Abstract

The organic nonlinear optical (NLO) materials are studied widely owing to the advantages over the inorganic NLO materials recently [1]. The organic NLOphores include a variety of chromophores explored for wide range of potential applications in optoelectronics, and biology. This review focuses on the organic NLOphores with multi functionality especially the Aggregation Induced Emission Enhancement (AIEE) and Fluorescent Molecular Rotor (FMR) responsive stimuli. The discussion will be on the structural aspects of the organic NLOphores which give an additional top up on the functionality and utility of the NLOphore and thus increase the market value of the NLOphores. Emphasis is on the understanding of the basic properties and applicability of the same. Recent advances in the approaches towards the multi-stimuli organic NLO materials are presented.
