Abstract

ABSTRACT The design characteristics of a new multistage trash extractor for stripper harvested cotton is presented along with performance data for two versions of the machine. The new machine, which provides three stages of extraction in a single machine, can be used as the primary extracting means in a cotton gin's seed cotton cleaning system. In laboratory studies, the experimental machine outperformed two conventional extractors in series and produced seed cotton trash contents at the gin stand that were about one-half as great as those produced by conventional machinery.
