Abstract

The development of the Marangoni instability in a two-layer film in the presence of a transverse temperature gradient and a heat release/consumption at the liquid-liquid interface, is investigated. The analysis is carried out in the lubrication approximation. Numerical simulations are performed by means of a finite-difference method. The multistability of the alternating roll patterns of different orientations and scales, has been found.
