Abstract

In highway engineering, pre-estimation on the global stability of highway slopes is a key to construction design and safety. The factors on slope stability include geological data, hydrographic data, situation of slopes, the way of cut, and so on. Therefore, a suitable analytical methodology of system engineering integrating the comprehensive qualitative and quantitative information is needed. A multi-level model of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation, which is able to evaluate comprehensively the global stability of highway slope, is proposed by using multi-source information fusion technique. The qualitative grade and quantitative degree for the global stability of highway slopes is obtained by synthesizing references. Analytic Hierarchy Process method has been used to compute the subjective weights of evaluation indexes. The model is also used in a highway slope in Henan Province. The results have shown that for the highway slope, its grade and degree of global stability are IV and in mid-danger respectively. So the slope must be reinforced during construction. The example has shown that the proposed method is feasible and effective.
