Abstract

Numerous airborne systems utilise some form of laser tracking during operation. Examples include aim-point refinement for ballistic ordnance, terminal guidance for dual-mode missile seekers and laser communications. Sensor field- of-view and laser pulse repetition frequency introduce significant difficulties for the tracking control design. This paper presents new gain-scheduled design methods for large-angle slew and evaluates the efficacy of multirate methods for improving the track-loop stiffness.
