Abstract

High-frequency alternating current (HFAC) power distribution systems (PDS) have various applications such as aircraft, satellite power supply, computer applications, telecommunication, and many more. Such applications require lower component count and higher power density. HFAC PDS has many advantage such as lower filter size, compact transformer, lower overall weight and many more. The proliferation of HFAC PDS is due to exciting feature of HFAC. This paper proposes a new topology based on MPMLIs in which switched capacitors (SCs) concept is used. Proposed MPMLIs have a inherent voltage boosting capability without the need of any sensors and inductors. The proposed topology has fewer power switches to generate a higher number of levels. PLECS based detailed simulations are presented to validate the operability of the proposed topology. In addition a comparative study is also presented to validate the beneficial feature.
