Abstract
This paper proposes a multi-port, bidirectional contactless connector based on the inductive power transfer technology. Owing to the unique structure of the axial gapped cylindrical core, the proposed contactless connector can control the output of multiple low-voltage batteries in parallel to balance those State of Charge. The axial gaps of the proposed transformer enables precise power distribution in multi-input/output phase-shift control. The prototype of the proposed connector verified ±1 kW, 95%, 3 mm contactless power transfer and the power balancing function between 300 V output and 6 of 50 V inputs experimentally. The proposed technology will contribute the growing of use of large capacity, high power battery for mobility system and renewable energy systems with safety and reliability.
