Abstract

This paper presents a novel type of electromagnetic launch mode based on the similar principle of reconnection guns. The basic principle and launch model were introduced. Via the finite-element simulation, the electromagnetic force of the projectile is analyzed, and it has been found that this novel launch mode can accelerate the mass of 0.49 kg of the projectile to 680 m/s. After the slot, the performance of the launch mode has been further improved. The muzzle velocity of projectile achieved 707 m/s; meanwhile, the radial compression force becomes smaller. In addition, multipole field reconnection electromagnetic launcher can not only retain the advantage of the reconnection guns, but also has higher efficiency than traditional electromagnetic launcher. We proposed that this launch mode has an ideal application prospect especially in the field of big mass transportation and super-velocity launch.
