Abstract

Two models are proposed to study the multiplicity distribution of negative particles produced in nucleus-nucleus interactions. The inelastic total and partial cross sections of AA collisions, in which eclipse corrections are considered, are used as basic inputs of the present calculations. The dependence of the average multiplicity on the mass number of the interacting nuclei is also investigated via the two models and the results are compared with recent data ranging from the several GeV region up to the very high CERN ISR data.
