Abstract

Multiplicity distribution for hadrons and for jets are studied in QCD parton cascades. The colour dipole formalism is used and earlier results in the double log approximation are generalized to include terms which are suppressed by colour factors or factors of ln s . The result is a set of coupled differential equations, together with appropriate boundary conditions. Asymptotically results for the gluon multiplicity obtained with other methods in the modified leading log approximation are reproduced. The dipole formalism discussed here may help to visualize the properties of the cascade and the nature of the correction terms.
