Abstract
The quantitative use of multilayer films in the formation of multiple-beam fringes of equal chromatic order is discussed. For this type of interference, it is necessary to use an equation of the form nλ=2t+fλ where the fraction f is a function of the wavelength. An experimental procedure is described and substantiated by theory.
