Abstract

A general model is developed to predict the occurrence of multiple steady states in a coal liquefaction reactor. The effect of preheater variables under coal liquefaction conditions, on the occurrence of the multiple steady states is examined. An analytical expression is developed for the stability of the steady states for the case of a constant flow stirred tank reactor.
