Abstract

Photon correlation technique has been used to study polystyrene latex samples in four concentrations. The optical thickness γ of the samples amounted to 30. It was found that the halfwidth of the multiple scattering can be represented as a sum of two terms: the leading term is proportional to γ 2 and corresponds to the diffusion approximation of the radiation transport theory, while the other is a function of polarization of radiation and is not described by the diffusion equation.
